Dumbo Double Dare

January 22, 2013. I've had this date marked on my calendar for weeks. It's the day that registration opens for the Disneyland Half-Marathon.

I decided last year that I would complete the Disney Coast to Coast Challenge after registering for the Disney Princess Half last year. The Coast to Coast Challenge is simple. Runners who run a half-marathon or marathon at Walt Disney World and Disneyland and have an official time for each of the events will receive a third medal.  Two races...three medals? Sign me up!



Coast to Coast Challenge Medal

I was set on the coast to coast until Disney upped the ante.

In addition to the Disneyland Half-Marathon, an inaugural 10k race has been created. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 31st. If one participates in both the Disneyland Half and the 10k, you will receive a third medal for completing the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge.

Registration opened at noon today, and I made sure that I was at my desk with credit card in hand. The wild thing is that once everyone started signing up, the Dumbo Double Dare sold out in an hour. Bananas! I'm so excited to be a part of such festive experience. I'm 27 days away from my first Disney race -- let the countdown begin!
